POSITION: Para Educator- Level I Multiple Programs and Level II Preschool

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:  Provide small group and individual instruction to at-risk and multilingual students.  Supervise students during recess and lunch times.

 

Salary (DOE):

Para I- $22.00 - $25.21

Para II- $22.60 - $25.89

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma
  • Associate of Arts Degree, 2 years of college credits or Para Educator Praxis

 

ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice.  Depending upon individual assignments, the para educator will perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:

  1. Ability to maintain a student centered, organized positive climate
  2. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively
  3. Communicate and respond effectively and in a friendly, professional manner with students, parents, community members, and school personnel.
  4. Ability to accept responsibility and take direction
  5. Work collaboratively and collegially.
  6. Comply with district rules and regulations.
  7. Conduct all work in a safe manner as specified by district rules.
  8. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  9. Ability to plan, instruct, and supervise middle school, Pre-K, and elementary age students
  10. Ability to work one-on-one or in a small group with students.
  11. Ability to provide support, assistance and give specific instruction under the direction of a certified teacher.
  12. Skilled at record keeping and computers.
  13. Monitor students both in and out the classroom.
  14. Ability to administer medical procedures including but not limited to tube feeding, dispensing medication, toileting, diapering, seizure supervision

STATE/DISTRICT MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED card or ability to attain one
  • Fingerprinting (paid by employee)
  • Proof of Immunization (if born 1-1-57 or later)
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform Act
  • HIV/HBV Training (district provided)
  • Sexual Harassment Training (district provided)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 180 Days per year
  • 6 Hours per day
  • Salary determined by placement on the adopted salary schedule
